Excitement Project Resources
This area of 04L.net contains some resources organised by KnowNet for the eXcitement Project - in particular, viewers for the project's del.icio.us shared bookmark resources.
eXcitement was a 2-year project funded by the European Union in the SOCRATES/MINERVA programme, ending in October 2006. It constructed a collaborative learning platform providing software, content and user support, including pedagogical guidance, help and “matchmaking" tools for finding partnerships for joint activities.
The project is based upon the work of the OU Miksike organisation. The Estonian organisation, Miksike Learning Environment, has built an extensive library of materials for Internet online education. Teachers, trainers and students have created 20,000+ "eWorksheets" since the beginning of 1994. The documents are simple html-pages and can be freely downloaded from the Miksike website, www.lefo.net . The fundamental idea is that learning is built on creativity and communication instead of traditional, top down, one-way teaching. Miksike provides an interactive educational environment where the students write, illustrate and translate the eWorksheets. Students can also develop new study material themselves.
